Directed by Piotr Domalewski, The Altar Boys is a bold coming-of-age comedy-drama set in a small provincial town. The film follows a group of teenage altar boys who, frustrated by adult hypocrisy and indifference, take justice into their own hands. Bugging the confessional, they uncover secrets and attempt to “fix” their community—blurring the line between moral idealism and vigilantism. Energetic, funny, and unsettling, the film mixes youthful rebellion with sharp social commentary on faith, power, and responsibility. Winner of the Golden Lions for Best Film at the 50th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, Altar Boys stands out for its originality and fearless storytelling.
