Travel Essentials (Rzeczy niezbedne) is a Polish drama directed by Kamila Tarabura. The film follows Ada, a journalist living in Hamburg, who receives a mysterious book about childhood trauma from her estranged friend, Roksana. This unexpected gesture prompts a journey into their shared past, gradually uncovering long-suppressed experiences of sexual abuse.
Based on two literary works, Travel Essentials offers a complex and non-stereotypical exploration of trauma, memory, and friendship, confronting painful truths with emotional depth and nuance.
The film is not a part of the Festival's competition.
The film screening will be followed by Q&A with the Festival's special guest actress Dagmara Dominczyk.
During the Opening Gala on Thursday, March 19 at RIAA, this Hollywood star will be honored with the Kosciuszko Foundation Pioneer Award for her achievements in film and television.
