2026 has been named the year of the Oscar-Winning Polish filmmaker Andrzej Wajda.
This event brings his work to the NGA with a screening of his final film “Afterimage”, followed by a post-screening panel discussion about Wajda’s work and influence on Polish cinema.
Afterimage (2016) tells the moving story of avant-garde painter Władysław Strzemiński, who resisted Stalinist orthodoxy and remained faithful to his artistic and political convictions despite persecution.
Wajda Day at the NGA is a perfect prelude to the 3rd edition of the Kosciuszko Foundation Washington DC Polish Film Festival launching the following Thursday, March 19th with the Opening Gala at RIAA (by invitation only). All films will be screened at Landmark's Bethesda Row Cinema, March 20-22, 2026. View the Festival's film lineup HERE
FESTIVAL PASS granting access to the Gala and all Festival's film screenings is still available.
We are also excited to announce that individual film tickets are now on sale!
