We are thrilled to celebrate Agata Turkot — the Festival’s Special Guest — on winning the 2026 Best Actress Eagle Award (Orły) for her powerful leading role in Home Sweet Home (Dom dobry).


The film had an extraordinary night at the Polish Film Awards, taking home four major EaglesBest Film, Best Director for Wojciech Smarzowski, Best Actor for Tomasz Schuchardt, and Best Actress for Agata Turkot — along with the award for Best Music. The Orły are widely considered the most prestigious awards in the Polish film industry, making this recognition especially meaningful.


We are honored to welcome Agata Turkot to Washington, DC as a Festival Special Guest!


Join us for a screening of Home Sweet Home on Sunday, March 22 at Bethesda Row Cinema, followed by a special Q&A with Agata Turkot.


About Agata Turkot


Agata Turkot is a Polish film, theatre, and television actress and a graduate of the renowned Film School in Łódź. She is the winner of the Zbyszek Cybulski Award for Best Young Actor, the Special Jury Prize at the Warsaw Film Festival, and the O!Lśnienie cultural award in the film category (including the 2025 Grand Prix).


Her acclaimed film performance as Gośka in Home Sweet Home earned her the 2026 Polish Film Award for Best Actress. International audiences may also recognize her from Louise Archambault’s historical drama Irena’s Vow and the Netflix crime series Feedback (Informacja zwrotna), based on the novel by Jakub Żulczyk and directed by Leszek Dawid.


Her screen credits also include The Wedding Party 2 (Wesele 2) by Wojciech Smarzowski, the romantic comedy The Taming of the Shrew 2 (Poskromienie złośnicy 2), and the TV costume drama Summer in Nohant (Lato w Nohant). She is well known to television audiences for leading roles in the series Motyw (directed by Paweł Maślona) and Leśniczówka(Forester’s Lodge).


Her recent projects include Diary of the Mortal (Zapiski śmiertelnika) by Maciej Żak, the family film Dwarf. A Fresh Start (Skrzat. Nowy początek) directed by Krzysztof Komander, the upcoming Warner Bros./HBO Max series Women Inferno (Piekło kobiet)—in which she plays the lead role of Helena Wróblewska—and the anticipated continuation of the popular series Play with a Shadow (Gra z cieniem) directed by Kinga Dębska.


On stage, she currently stars in the leading role in 2:22 at the Krystyna Janda Polonia Theatre (directed by Waldemar Śmigasiewicz) and appears as a guest actress at TR Warszawa in Pieces of a Woman (Cząstki kobiety) by acclaimed European director Kornél Mundruczó.
