The KFDC Polish Film Festival's representatives attended 50th Gdynia Film Festival in September 2025

As we begin preparations for the next edition of the Kosciuszko Foundation Polish Film Festival in Washington, D.C., March 19–22, 2026, we’re reflecting on the inspiring experience of the 50th Gdynia Polish Film Festival, Poland’s most prestigious celebration of cinema.
This year, a delegation from our Washington, D.C. festival attended the milestone event in Gdynia. Executive Director Basia Bernhardt, together with Martin Kabat, Chairman of the Festival’s Board of Directors, JP Shutte, Vice-Chair, and Board Members Agata Peszko and Joanna Campfield, took part in film screenings and official festival events. Their visit offered valuable insight into the latest trends and standout productions in Polish cinema — which will help shape our 2026 program.
Highlights from the 50th Gdynia Polish Film Festival:
Golden Lions (Złote Lwy): Ministranci by Piotr Domalewski
Silver Lions: Franz Kafka by Agnieszka Holland
Best Actor: Idan Weiss for Franz Kafka
Best Actress: Matylda Giegżno for Światłoczuła
We extend heartfelt congratulations to Agnieszka Holland, director of Franz Kafka, and recipient of the Silver Lions.
Agnieszka is not only an acclaimed filmmaker, but also serves as the Honorary Patron of our Festival and a Trustee of the Kosciuszko Foundation — making this recognition especially meaningful.
The Gdynia awards ceremony was hosted by two icons of Polish cinema, Grażyna Torbicka and Zbigniew Zamachowski, who also joined us as special guest at last year’s festival in Washington, D.C.
Save the Date: March 19–22, 2026
Join us in Washington, D.C. as we present a handpicked selection of the best in contemporary Polish cinema — direct from Gdynia to the heart of the U.S. capital.
Stay tuned — full film lineup and ticket details will be announced soon!
